Tourism in Berlin

Every year more and more tourist discover Berlin as a great holiday destination. In fact Berlin is on its way to become one of the worlds top travel destinations. In 2013 more than 11 mio. tourists came to visit the German capitol. Only London and Paris are having more tourists coming over, but let’s be honest, it will only be a matter of time until Berlin climbs the top spot there as well.
Most tourists are coming from the UK, US and Italy according to official statistics. But when going out at night all you will hear is Spanish, as nowadays many young Spanish people come to Berlin not only for holidays but also to work and live here.

Flights to Berlin

Luckily most of the major airlines fly directly to Berlin, either to Tegel Airport or Berlin Schönefeld. Tegel airport is located in the north of Berlin and is easily accessable from Alexanderplatz within 25mins. But Tegel is already reaching it’s passenger limit so complaints are getting louder, that service is very bad and waiting times very long.

Berlin Schönefeld is home to Easyjet, which brings in party tourists from all over Europe. Schönefeld is further away from the city center and you will need to plan more time to get there from Alexanderplatz, as you have to walk quite a bit from the S-Bahn station to the terminal.
